The Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI system includes 2,400 farms, with a vineyard area of ​​over 14,000 hectares, 92 producers of must and wine vinegar and 61 Acetaias (the Balsamic Vinegar of Modena factories), employing between 25.000 and 30.000 workers along the entire production chain.

Global spread

Over 90% of the production of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is exported, placing the Balsamic Vinegar of Modena in first place among the Italian GIs for export: today the product is marketed in more than 130 different countries and is among the main ambassadors of Italian agri-food excellence in the world.

Market

Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI has a certified production ranging from 95 to 100 million liters per year and a consumption value that reaches one billion euros. These figures place the product in the top five of Italian DOP and IGP food specialities, alongside Grana Padano DOP, Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, Prosciutto di Parma DOP, Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP.
